ADVANTAGES OF ORGANIC FARMING

1. It protects the future generations as the food choice is right to be organic ; 2. It prevents soil erosion as soil is the foundation of the food chain in organic             gardening ; 3. It protects the water quality as no chemicals or pesticides is used ; 4. It protect the farm workers as the pesticide use is poor ; 5. It supports a true economy ; 6. It promotes biodiversity ; 7. Organic foods provide a better taste ; 8. Certified organic food does not contain genetically engineered organisms ; 9. It saves energy ; 10. Certified organic foods does not undergo irradiation ; 11. It protects the environment ; 12. It encourages biodiversity ; 13. It conserves natural resource ; 14. It encourages animal welfare.

LIMITATIONS OF ORGANIC FARMING

1. Less food being produced approximately one-third lower than those produced       in conventional farming ; 2. Uncertainties in ensuring farming ; 3. Farm profits react very sensitively to changes in product prices ; 4. Organic products prices are higher ; 5. In organic fields there is a greater percentage of weed counts when compared with conventional ones ; 6. Organic manures have low nutrient content and therefore need to be used in larger quantities.
