                        RICE VARIETY IN TAMIL NADU


                                    Hi everyone today we are going to see about the rice varieties grown in Tamil Nadu. Generally in India Basmati rice is grown in the north of India but in south India the  basmati rice they won't grow in southern part of India . The rice varieties grown in southern parts of India are the rice which we eat everyday and the rice which we use for dosa and idli batter. There are many types for example the paddy which is been grown in short time and long time. 

Short duration varieties :

ADT 36, IR 64, IR 36, MDU 3, CO 47, ASD 16, ASD 17, ADT 37, TPS 2, ADT 37, TPS 2 , ADT 39, ASD 18, MDU 4 , PMK 2, ADT 42, MDU 5 , ASD 20 , ADT 43, TKM 11, ect .... It will take 90 - 120 days for harvest

Medium duration varieties :

IR 20 , BHAVANI , IR 50 , CO 43, WHITE PONNI , ADT 38, TPS 2 , TKM 10, TPS 3, ASD 19, TRY 1 , CO 46 , CORH 2& ADT (R) 46 ect.....It will take 120 -140 days for harvest . 

Long duration varieties :

PONMANI , PY 4(JAWHAR) , ADT (R) 44 ect.... It will take about 140-180 days for harvest . 

SUTIABLE SEASONS :

The suitable season for short duration varieties are NAVARAI , SORNAVARI , KAR, KURUVAI , LATE THALADI. 

The season for medium duration varieties are EARLY SAMBA, SAMBA, LATE SAMBA, THALADI, 

The season for long duration varieties are EARLY SAMBA , SAMBA, LATE SAMBA, THALADI, LATE PISHANAM . 

                         From this we are see that many types of paddy are grown in India especially in Tamil Nadu so we must be proud to be in Tamil Nadu .
